[14 May 2008] Panel Interview on Climate Change, Water and Transportation: A panel interview conducted by Water.ca focused on the impact of climate change on water and transportation. Scientists, journalists, and politicians (see the panel) gave their opinion on the challenges associated with climate change and its impact on water and transportation. The panel members pointed out that many water-related problems are human-made, such as failing distribution networks, cities placed in areas where they should not be, and poor management of water resources. They emphasized the broad agreement that climate change is happening already now and that these changes are having a negative impact on water resources in many areas. Anticpated sea level rise is likely to impact much of the transportation, production and energy infrastructure in the coastal zone. The large uncertainties associated with future climate change and their impact poses a great challenge to politicians in planning for mitigation and adaptation. See my blog.
