August 2012: Threat or Promise? The message of the dramatic clouds developing over western Reno, Nevada, on a August afternoon were difficult to interpret: were they indicating the threat of a dry thunderstrom igniting many wildfires in the region or did they promise the urgently needed rainfall ending the long drought? We leave the answer in the clouds.
