Thought of the month ...

January 2012: Imagine a World Without Free Knowledge: Today we can't access wikipedia web pages in the English language. There, we read: For over a decade, we have spent millions of hours building the largest encyclopedia in human history. Right now, the U.S. Congress is considering legislation that could fatally damage the free and open Internet. For 24 hours, to raise awareness, we are blacking out Wikipedia. How can we expect democracy to survive without free access to knowledge for everybody? Wikipedia, the successful demonstration of the power of crowd-sourcing is a guarantee of democracy. Democratizing of knowledge collections and access is what we need. Let's protect access to knowledge as a human right. A world without free access to all knowledge is not a free world.
